Arguably their finest album, this follow-up to Opiate showcases Tool at their best, assisted by clean, crisp production, without the muddiness of Aenima. Edgy guitar riffs are complemented by spitting, heavy bass, especially on quot;Soberquot; and quot;Crawl Awayquot;. Lyrically, Tool are at their vitriolic best, targeting religious hypocrisy (quot;Intolerance, quot; quot;Soberquot;; always a popular theme), the loss of innocence and it's consequences (quot;Prison Sexquot;), and deliberate ignorance (quot;Swamp Songquot;). Henry Rollins makes a guest appearance on quot;Bottom, quot; which, along with quot;4 Degrees, quot; deals with questions of identity. Undertow is also Tool's most musically adventurous album, lacking the occasionally numbing sameness of Aenima, and with considerably more sophistication than their previous work.

TERROR-BLE SOUNDING VINYL
Ok I love Tool and all of their work .. but I have never bought a Tool Vinyl album that wasn't noisy (as far as pops and crackles, even when songs are playing you can hear how bad it is , it sounds like something I dug out of the very -used “Bargain bin”from the yesteryears and the mix itself is extremely low I have to crank up my system to really hear the music but even then it's compressed sounding and not a very enjoyable listening experience, Tool needs to Remaster their entire catalog properly have Bob Ludwig Master them because this music deserves the Royal Treatment and I know what you are probally saying that my gear is underwhelming but it's actually a very descent build I am using the “” Audio Technica AT-LP-120BT-USB , Powered with a Denon DRA-395 stereo “receiver paired with some PS5 3DAudio Headphones (which sound amazing for music btw),and some Kenwood Tower Speakers, Polk Audio Bookshelf's and an Onkyo Subwoofer like I said nothing fancy but seriously gets the job done audio gear and it's not just this pressing,Quality Control seems to have gone down hill with the resurgence of vinyl I recommend this classic 100percent just buy the cd on Amazon instead of the vinyl I have both formats and the compact disc version sounds the way Tool intended it to and it's a lot cheaper.Period.Point•Blank-Patrick
